Jackson Wild Media Lab 2023 Film

The Jackson Wild Media Lab is a cross-disciplinary science filmmaking workshop that brings scientists and media creators together to learn from leaders in the profession and work together to develop effective tools to communicate about science, nature and conservation with diverse audiences across the world’s evolving media platforms. After randomly assorting into teams of 4, we each got paired up with a local nature-related client to make a short film about a topic of their choosing. My team got to work with The Nature Conservancy Wyoming to tell a story about their Wildflower Watch wildflower monitoring program and our film premiered on the Jackson Wild stage.

Hunting with Hawks

Javier Regis is a master falconer and abatement specialist who works in Central and Southern California. After writing about and photographing him and the hawks for a newspaper story, I shadowed him on a hawk hunt one foggy day in Monterey.

This was a scrappy solo grad school project. I chose the shoot day with consideration to wind conditions for the hawks; I took what I could get with the light conditions. I directed, shot visuals, recorded and mixed sound, edited, and produced.
